Behind the camera, Melinda gained experience in creating, financing, managing and building a cable television network during a special two (2) year (2008-2010) project initiative with a former co-owner of the Black Family Channel (MBC Network) Cable Television Network. It was during this time that Melinda had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with Mr. Steve Forbes, Chairman and Editor- in Chief of Forbes Media.

Alicia Ward, VP/Broadcasting Division

Alicia finds her purpose through her passions and talent for writing as a Author and Blogger, Radio Show Host, fitness enthusiast and most of all as a wife and mother.

Here is her journey:

Alicia has 20+ years of business know-how and is an experienced planner and organizer. Alicia's business acumen and attention to "detail" has propelled her to stand-out in various leadership roles.

Alicia's professional career, following receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (Cum Laude), from Tuskegee University, began as a Commercial Production Underwriter, for a well-known insurance company, where she excelled. However, after several years of service, she was laid off, as a result of the company's internal restructuring.

Alicia, soon continued her professional career, working in various industries, ranging from non-profit to the education sector. As life oftentimes repeats itself, once again, and with no advanced notice, Alicia found herself being laid off from her job of almost fourteen years as the Transfer Credit Coordinator and Commencement Coordinator at a major post-secondary college, for the second time in her professional career.

However, this time, Alicia was at PEACE about her layoff, which made all the difference. Understanding that the peace that she had, was a blessing from God, she decided to use this experience, as way to not only re-discover who she is, but also to follow her true purpose in life, which is to inspire and empower others to realize and walk their life purpose or passions. Therefore, through the use of one of her longtime passions, writing, she envisioned and created her blog and company, There is Life After Layoff®,  a company offering  individuals coaching on how to discover their life purpose and gifts, as well as, assist other small business entrepreneurs, with growing the vision for their company through the use of social media. Just recently, There is Life After Layoff®, was named 18th in the Top 100 for 2014 Home-Based 100 Business Winners and in the Top 10 for the Most Innovative and Recession Busters Categories in the annual contest that is hosted by StartupNation.com.

Based upon the accomplishments of her blog, Alicia was offered the opportunity, with newly formed Atlanta Life Radio, to co-create and co-host a radio show of the same name. An outcome of this is, that Alicia has become a seasoned interviewer and through Atlanta Life Radio, learned radio production, leading to the success of the radio show, "There is Life After Layoff." Alicia's skills in media range from radio show production to red carpet interviewer with on camera work in addition to excelling in the use of social media.

Alicia is a member of the National Association of Professional Women and was just recently selected as Co-Vice President for the Atlanta Chapter. She is also a member of the National Alliance of Women in Media and volunteers through Hands on Atlanta, The Meal Train, and other local charitable organizations as a way of giving back to the community.

Alicia Ward, is a Christian, first and foremost, wife and mother of two adorable children, who enjoys spending time with her family and resides just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Alicia, has had a lifelong obsession for athletics and fitness, which eventually led to her participation as a competitive bodybuilder. Today, Alicia continues to enjoy one of her other life-long passions of running. She competes in various local road races, which includes the Peachtree Road Race and the Atlanta Half-Marathon. She believes that a healthy body is in direct correlation to maintaining a healthy balance between mind and spirit which is one the ultimate keys to success!

Gail Metzbower, Marketing and Promotions, NE Region

Gail finds her purpose through her passions, talent and with the gift of "gab" for building relationships and communities, working in media, hosting a radio show, promoting events, and most of all as a wife, mother and love for her large family.

Here is her journey:

Gail Metzbower was born and raised as the seventh of 10 children in Baltimore, Maryland. She spent her formative and teen years developing her love of musical theater and the arts by studying and performing in her school productions, local community colleges, theaters, summer stock, a repertory acting company and Maryland Public Television.

After graduating from high school, Gail followed her dream and moved to Hollywood, California where she experienced the “business” side of the industry working with the Albert G. Ruben Co., Entertainment Insurance Agency in Beverly Hills as a Claims Representative. Realizing the importance of a formal education, she decided to return to Baltimore and began a seventeen year journey of adult education in the night school program while working full time. She met her Engineer husband, Curt of twenty-six years while working in Human Resources for Noxell Corporation, (manufacturers of Noxzema Skin Cream, Cover Girl and Revlon). It was during her years, however, working at The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in the Marketing Department, that she realized her love of promotion for the Performing Arts. During that time she was awarded “Intern of the Year” for her work by The Hartford Community College and by her Colleague’s.

Gail took a respite from working outside the home to raise her son, Grayson, 17.  During those years as a Homemaker, she worked as the Principal’s Assistant at her son’s Christian School, coordinated the “Race for Education Program” and wrote the school’s monthly newsletter. After leaving Delaware for her husband’s work and settling in Bucks County, Pa. (Philadelphia), she worked as a Pre-school Teacher’s Assistant as well as started her own Energy and Skin Care businesses. She volunteered as a Patient Concierge at Doylestown Hospital and on the committee for the Bucks County NJ/PA Job Fair. She and her family currently serve on the Hospitality Committee at the “Crossing Church” where they are members.

It was during the process (and frustrations) of re-entering the work force without the completion of her degree that Gail began to grow a passion for helping others “find and develop” theirs.   When she met Atlanta Life’s, Alicia Ward at the 2013 Kingdomwood Christian Film Festival to honor her friend Julie Silcott, she learned of their radio program “There is Life After Lay-off” and felt an instant connection and respect for Ali’s personal journey and how she and the Atlanta Life Media Team minister to those like herself, in a period of transition. Gail feels blessed to be a part of the Atlanta Life Event Team and is grateful to be surrounded by such passionate and experienced women who work generously in supporting others.
